This workshop, which will be held on 17 September, 2012, will deal with the practical implications of the UN Declaration of Water as a Human Right and will be structured as follows:
Session 1 – Policy imperatives and regulatory requirements
Chair – Gerard Payen, UN Secretary General’s Advisory Board on Water & Sanitation
What are the policy and regulatory consequences of the adoption of water as a human right by the United Nations and national governments?
Whose role and responsibility is it to deliver universal access to water and sanitation?
Session 2 – New realities of progressive realisation
Chair – Michael Rouse, independent international consultant and Distinguished Research Associate at Oxford University.
