UN Watercourses Convention User’s Guide
The UN Watercourses Convention User’s Guide provides an article by article explanation of the text of Convention on the Law of the Non-navigational Uses of International Watercourses; which was adopted by the UN General Assembly on the 21st May 1997. The Guide is aimed at a range of readers including policy-makers, decision-makers, implementation agencies and other bodies responsible for transboundary water issues. It is hoped that the guide will also benefit managers and stakeholders from other sectors with a direct relevance to water, such as health, environment, education, agriculture, energy and so forth.
As part of UN Global Watercourses Initiative Project with WWF and funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the IHP-HELP Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science at the University of Dundee, Scotland, is now developing an on-line resource to support the User’s Guide.
