Official Postponement of the XVII World Water Congress: New dates: 21-25 September, 2020

Congress organizers have been following the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation closely and their thoughts are very much with colleagues and friends in South Korea, especially in Daegu, one of the epicentres of the outbreak.

In this context, and following much discussion with the Congress co-hosts (Ministry of Environment, K-water, Daegu City, and KWRA), the XVII World Water Congress has been officially postponed until September 21-25, 2020.

The decision to postpone the Congress was not taken lightly and indeed required various levels of sign-off in Korea. While all feel some frustration about this postponement, and hope that the epidemic will be under control by May, the reality of current travel restrictions and growing international concern about the virus mean there was no choice but to postpone. And of course there is no wish to put at risk anyone’s health.
