Partnerships and Affiliations Chair
She is currently pursuing a PhD at Université Paris Nanterre, where her research examines the role of State practice in the development of international water law. Beyond academia, Mariana actively contributes to international cooperation initiatives involving water governance, sustainable development and international organizations. Her professional and research activities include collaboration with UNESCO's Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP), contributions to the United Nations World Water Development Report process, and participation in international legal and policy dialogues on water security. As AIDA's representative within the UN-Water framework, Mariana contributes to multilateral discussions by bringing the collective expertise of the Association's members into international policy processes. She considers it a privilege to represent a community of scholars and practitioners whose common objective is to advance the sustainable and equitable governance of water resources. Through her participation in UN Water Meetings and global water initiatives, she seeks to ensure that legal scholarship contributes to practical solutions and informed decision-making, while fostering cooperation among governments, international organizations, scientists and legal experts for the benefit of present and future generations. |
